Expertise

Warren heads our commercial recovery and restructuring team.

He has extensive experience in commercial litigation and insolvency matters and is an accredited specialist in commercial litigation. In insolvency matters,  he regularly acts for and against liquidators, administrators, receivers, conducting and defending actions including public examinations, preference and insolvent trading proceedings.

In commercial litigation matters, Warren acts for companies, directors, shareholders, property developers, construction companies and commercial
and corporate clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws, Queensland University of Technology
  • Bachelor of Information Technology, Queensland University of Technology
  • Admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia

Recent projects

  • Successfully represented administrators as solicitor and advocate in proceedings to extend convening period for administration and in proceedings to terminate an administration.
  • Acted for trustees in bankruptcy, obtaining freezing orders in the federal court and recovering over $250,000.00 of assets which had been hidden from creditors and trustees.
  • Acted for receivers of legal practice in finalisation of accounting and dispute with and between partners.
  • Acted for secured creditor in relation to dispute over the acquisition of a zinc mill in Ireland and successfully resolved disputes surrounding insurance, damage and operation of sale contract, including resolving issues of conflicting Irish and Swedish law.
  • Acted for corporate trustee and replacement trustee through administration and DOCA and various supreme court litigation, achieving a full return to financiers and continuation of the business.
  • Successfully represented a retirement village in a Victorian litigation involving dispute with former service providers and resolving security issues.
  • Representing interests of another bank in relation to operation of liquidation and recovery of unpaid share capital.
  • Representing trustees of trusts and financiers in disputes over the priority of securities.
