Expertise

Julie heads our health, aged care and disability services team.

She joins Hynes Lawyers after specialising for many years in providing
corporate and commercial advice to health, aged care and disability service providers at a national tier one law firm. Julie has extensive experience in providing advice on negotiated mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, asset redevelopment, regulatory compliance and operational matters for clients
in these industries. She has acted for public, private and not-for-profit providers.

Julie also has extensive experience in developing and implementing training programs for health, aged care and disability service providers. She has developed many varied training programs for her clients ranging from the roll out of an educational program to all staff of a national aged care provider to programs for individual board members of small not-for-profit organisations.

Recent projects

  • Acting for a national provider of aged care services in relation to the acquisition of a portfolio of residential aged care facilities.
  • Advising on all legal and operational issues post acquisition of a national portfolio of aged care facilities and retirement villages including advising in relation to the redevelopment of several of the facilities acquired.
  • Conducting a large scale compliance audit across five hospitals for one of the largest providers of health care services in Australia.
  • Advising on the restructure of an incorporated joint venture for an acute health care provider.
  • Acting for aged care providers in relation to sanctions imposed by the Department of Health and Ageing and in relation to findings of non-compliance imposed by the Standards and Accreditation Agency.
  • Conducting wide scale compliance audits for aged care providers on residential care agreements, bond agreements and operational procedures.
  • Developing and implementing an educational training program for a large not-for-profit disability service provider.
  • Acting for providers in workplace health and safety prosecutions and coronial matters.
